Christmas Home Lighting Styles

  • Formal

  • Modern

  • Icicles

There are 3 different light installations for houses. The first type of install is the Formal Lighting install. This install duplicates a more traditional style of set up. The second type of lighting install is Modern Lighting, which is free flowing art installation. The third type of lighting is icicle lighting.

FORMAL SET-UP

Traditional Lighting uses a larger bulb (C7 or C9), where bulbs are spaced at a uniform length of 6-12 inches apart depending on the lighting string you select.

With a traditional set up style every bulb is clipped to produce a linear lighting effect. If you are a holiday light purist this is the style for you… a timeless elegant workspace that is clean and neat.

MODERN SET-UP

Modern Lighting uses smaller bulbs (C3 or C6), where lights are spaced apart at a length of 2-3 inches.

This set design calls for every 4th or 5th bulb to be clipped, at intervals of about a foot. This style creates a free flowing art install, where the light winds it’s way across your eves-trough or shingles. This install is particularly popular with children.

ICICLE SET-UP

The final lighting style is icicle lighting. There are so many variations amongst icicles that it is difficult to limit it to a few bulbs styles or types.
